India scripted history against South Africa on June 29 when they beat the Proteas to lift the T20 World Cup title for the 2nd time and join West Indies, England, as the joint-most successful team in the prestigious T20I tournament.
It was an emotional day for the Indian fans. Besides the victory, senior stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from the shortest format of the game. Also, besides the veteran players, it was also the last day for Rahul Dravid as India's head coach.
Dravid, who took on the role of coaching India on November 22, came close to lifting the World Cup when India reached the 2023 World Cup final, but it was a perfect farewell for him as Men in Blue won the trophy for him on his last day with the side.
On a rare occasion, Dravid did not hold back his emotions, and the fans witnessed an animated version of him while celebrating the win. In the latest events, the BCCI has released a video of Dravid giving his farewell speech as the head coach.
The 51-year-old thanked the players, his coaching staff and even the BCCI members for supporting him, respecting him and being kind towards him. He also specially mentioned Rohit Sharma in his speech thanking him for making a call in November and asking him to stay.
