Ben Stokes is one of the most charismatic cricketers in world cricket currently and the impact he makes whenever he takes the field, is immense. He came out of retirement from ODI format to play the World Cup 2023 and despite lacklustre performances from England, he stood out with his resilient batting.

Eventually, England finished seventh on the points table and managed to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025. However, with plenty of players in their 30s, there is a cloud of doubt on how many from the World Cup 2023 team will continue playing the format. The focus of world cricket is undoubtedly on T20 cricket and Test cricket, and there is a high probability that players will let go of the ODI format to prolong their careers in the other two formats.

Ben Stokes is also battling similar issues, and after the game against Pakistan, Stokes did reveal his thinking and future plans for how he wants to shape his career going forward. Ben Stokes mentioned that he is a Test skipper and has responsibility of taking Test cricket in England forward. He added that his decision on ODI format will go down to how he can manage the workload as playing three formats can be a bit tricky.

However, Ben Stokes signed off in a positive manner and added that he would have to think hard about his plans for the ODI format and added that the knee surgery he is set to take, might just improve his fitness and allow him to play all three formats.

Ben Stokes is set to take his much-needed knee surgery against of the India series next year which is likely to make him fully fit and deliver as an all-rounder yet again.
