Prithvi Shaw To Be Released By Delhi Capitals Ahead Of IPL 2024

Prithvi Shaw, the dynamic Delhi Capitals and India opener is set to be released by his IPL franchise ahead of IPL 2024. Prithvi Shaw who started his career with a bang, has not been able to convert his promise into something substantial and it seems that the franchise has finally decided to move ahead leading into a new IPL season.

Prithvi Shaw made his IPL debut for Delhi in the 2018 edition of the Indian Premier League after the batter led India’s U-19 team to World Cup glory. He along with other youngsters like Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer led Delhi’s resurgence and were looked as a core that will serve Delhi for a long time.

He made 245 runs in nine matches in his first season, but it was his strike rate of over 150 that grabbed plenty of eyeballs.

The man soon played for India, and at one point in time, it looked like he would captain the Delhi Capitals in the future, but his fortunes dwindled significantly after the highs of the 2021 season. In the 2021 edition, Shaw scored 479 runs at an average of over 31 and a strike rate of almost 160.

However, soon Shaw’s technical flaws started opening up, especially against the incoming deliveries, and Shaw could manage only 106 runs in 8 innings during the 2023 IPL. He was also dropped midway through the tournament, and it seems that the franchise no longer has confidence in Shaw’s ability to deliver consistently at the top of the order.

Prithvi Shaw though would be a hot property whenever he is officially released by Delhi Capitals and there would be plenty of franchises looking to grab this talented and pocket-dynamite opener.
