Virat Kohli, the Indian batting stalwart, returned to his den, Bangalore, for India's final group-stage game against the Netherlands. The host nation, leading the points table with a 100% win record, will aim to extend the winning streak against the Dutch team.

The Netherlands, on the other hand, are playing for pride. They orchestrated an upset against South Africa and witnessed a relatively successful maiden World Cup campaign.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first.

Despite the matchup being meaningless, India went ahead with the same side. A couple of players were expected to be rested ahead of the important semi-final clash vs. New Zealand. But not to be.

Anyways, after the conclusion of pre-game formalities, Indian openers Rohit Sharma and Shubhman Gill were off to a flyer start. However, moments after setting up a 100-run opening partnership, Gill perished to Paul van Meekeren.

Next up at number three came an Indian batting legend in the making, Virat Kohli. Kohli, the face of Bangalore's IPL franchise RCB, received a rousing welcome from the Bangloreas present in the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.

As Virat Kohli marked his way from the dressing room to the crease, fans went berserk and welcomed their beloved RCB stalwart with loud cheers. However, Kohli didn't respond as he was busy assessing the conditions and marking his guard.

Kohli and Rohit tried to build a partnership, but unfortunately, the Indian captain lost his wicket to Bas de Leede while attempting his trademark pull shot. Leede tricked Rohit with a slower ball as the latter failed to clear the ground.

Shreyas Iyer is the next man in, and he and Virat Kohli will aim to recreate the partnership they achieved against South Africa.
