Former Indian opener Gautam Gambhir, renowned for his pivotal contributions in the 2007 ICC World T20 and the 2011 ODI World Cup finals, has once again made headlines for his forthright views on the historic 2011 World Cup.

In a recent interview, when questioned about his own performance in the final where he played a crucial knock of 97 runs, Gambhir dismissed the notion that his efforts were underrated. He emphatically stated, "Nothing is underrated."

The conversation then shifted to Yuvraj Singh, who was named the Man of the Tournament for his exceptional all-round performance in the 2011 World Cup. Gambhir expressed his opinion on Yuvraj's lack of credit, suggesting that it could be attributed to the absence of a robust public relations (PR) strategy.

"Broadcaster can never be a PR machinery, a broadcaster needs to be fair to everyone sitting in the dressing room."

This isn't the first time Gambhir has emphasized the importance of recognizing the collective efforts of the team. In a previous interview, he had remarked,

"We haven't credited Yuvraj enough for the 2011 World Cup. Even players like Zaheer, Raina, Munaf, and Sachin, who was the highest run-scorer. Media tends to focus on individual moments, like MS Dhoni's iconic six, but we must not forget the team's collective brilliance."

Gambhir's candid statements shed light on the often-overlooked aspects of team contributions and the need for a fair representation of every player's role in the historic victory.
