Steve Smith batted beautifully on Friday (X.com)
Adam Zampa is popularly known as one of the sharpest cricket brains in the world at present. The leg-spinner often shows his charisma and aura in limited-overs cricket and enjoys success more often than not. Similarly, on Friday, during Melbourne Renegades’ BBL contest against Sydney Sixers, his clinical mind with the ball in hand made headlines, and the man who was at the receiving end of it was none other than one of Australia’s all-time greats, Steve Smith.
Playing their first outings of the season, Smith already made his mark, scoring a spectacular half-century for the Sixers while opening the innings. Zampa, who used to play for Melbourne Stars, was playing his first match for the Renegades.
Coming to bowl the 17th over, Zampa went up against Smith and bowled a length delivery towards the stumps with some pace. The former Australian skipper went for a slog-sweep but was beaten by the pace. As a result, he ended up finding a massive top edge, and Jonathan Wells took a brilliant catch near the boundary line to end Smith’s stay after a superb 42-ball 61.

It is important to note that Zampa, 31, was playing his 100th BBL game as well, and he made two in two by cleaning up Tom Curran with the following delivery.
