Former West Indies captain and star all-rounder Jason Holder expressed his support for the scheduling of the next season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2024 in a recent interview. 


Holder believes that playing T20 cricket leading up to a World Cup is always beneficial, providing players with valuable game time and helping them prepare mentally for the challenges ahead. The 32-year-old cricketer highlighted the advantages of participating in the IPL before the T20 World Cup, stating that it would aid players in hitting top form. 

Here's what Jason Said:

"I have had a good time with Sunrisers (Hyderabad) and Chennai (Super Kings) as well. One of those two teams would be nice to go back to but it is not in my hands," the West Indian, who towers at over 6ft." 

In the last edition of the IPL, he played for Rajasthan Royals. Reflecting on the significance of franchise cricket, Holder emphasized the need for players to understand their work pressure in international cricket before venturing into T20 leagues. 

Currently playing for the Samp Army in the Abu Dhabi T20 League, Holder shared his satisfaction with his performance, highlighting his success in both bowling and batting. He expressed his hope for winning the league with the Samp Army.

Looking ahead to West Indies' preparations for the T20 World Cup, Holder mentioned the upcoming series against England and Australia as crucial opportunities for the team to come together before the tournament. He believes that participation in franchise tournaments will further help the West Indies team get into its stride.

Holder, who made his IPL debut in 2013 for Chennai Super Kings, has played 46 matches in IPL, taking 53 wickets and scoring 259 runs.
