Australian off-spinner Chris Green faced a unique dilemma when he received his maiden call-up to the national T20I squad for the series against India. The cricketer was on the verge of marrying his partner Bella, and the timing of his selection threatened to disrupt their wedding plans. However, the cricketing gods smiled upon Green as he managed to navigate the situation with finesse.

In a recent interview ahead of the Big Bash League (BBL) 23/24 season opener for the Sydney Thunder, Green shared his experience. He revealed that the selectors assured him they wouldn't interfere with his wedding plans but expressed their desire for him to join the squad in India promptly.

“It went along the lines of, ‘Look, we’re not going to ruin your wedding, but we’d love you to get on a flight Monday morning and come to India.’ I saw the first game was on the day of my wedding, and we had a discussion on whether it would affect anything. She knew playing for Australia was something I had always worked towards, but at the same time, we had planned our wedding a long time in advance."

"Ultimately, Green didn't have to choose between marriage and cricket, declaring the day he got married as the best day of his life." The cricketer acknowledged the significance of both events, emphasizing his joy at successfully experiencing both milestones.



Fortunately, Green tied the knot with Bella on November 24 and flew to India to make his Australia debut on December 1 in Raipur.
