Glenn Maxwell Suffers Injury Scare Again; Doubtful For RCB In IPL 2024?

Melbourne Stars' campaign in the Big Bash League 2023-24 (BBL) has hit a stumbling block as captain Glenn Maxwell faces a forced sideline stint due to a forearm injury. The setback comes after a disheartening opening night defeat to Brisbane Heat, where Maxwell, in his gritty 23-run knock, suffered the injury that has now ruled him out of the crucial encounter against Perth Scorchers.

Maxwell received medical attention on the field, with his forearm taped and later iced in the dugout after his dismissal. The absence of the dynamic all-rounder not only leaves a void in the batting lineup but also deprives the Stars of a valuable spin-bowling option. The responsibility to lead the charge now falls on Marcus Stoinis, who will be crucial in filling Maxwell's shoes.

The upcoming clash against Perth Scorchers at the MCG will be a stern test for the Stars, who hope that Maxwell's rehabilitation during the 10-day gap before their next game against Sydney Thunder on December 23 will be sufficient for his return.

Meanwhile, the Stars face additional concerns as Nathan Coulter-Nile is set to undergo scans for a calf injury suffered while bowling against Brisbane Heat.
