As Ravichandran Ashwin, the Indian spin maestro, achieved the remarkable milestone of claiming 500 Test wickets, congratulations poured in from across the cricketing world, including a heartfelt message from Australian off-spinner Nathan Lyon, who is, in fact, an active member of the elite 500 wickets ball club.

Ashwin, after getting stranded on 499 wickets in the Vizag Test between India and England, unlocked the historic milestone in Rajkot. As England walked out to bat in the second innings on Day 2, Ashwin drew the first blood.

He tossed a fuller delivery on leg stump as Zak Crawley attempted a premeditated sweep shot. However, he fell short as a top edge traveled to Rajat Patidar at fine leg, and the fielder didn’t make a mistake to complete a regulation catch.

That went down as Ravichandran Ashwin’s 500th Test wicket, and as he unlocked a major career milestone, his Indian teammates surrounded him to celebrate his feat and also congratulate the bowler on the same.

Meanwhile, as soon as Ashwin made this remarkable achievement, best wishes poured in from all parts of the world. 

A special video message was also sent by Australian veteran spinner Nathan Lyon. The spinner recorded a video congratulating Ashwin on his milestone and expressed how it has been his honor to compete with him and also watch his inspiring career trajectory. 

Not only that, Lyon welcomed Ashwin to the elite 500 Test wickets ball club and insisted that the Indian spin maestro has a long way to go.

Interestingly, Nathan Lyon also unlocked the prestigious milestone a couple of months ago when he clipped his 500th wicket against Pakistan in the recently concluded Test series.
