In a heartfelt gesture of gratitude and appreciation, Indian spin maestro Ravichandran Ashwin dedicated his remarkable achievement of claiming 500 Test wickets to his father, who has been a cornerstone of the bowler's successful journey as a professional cricketer.

Ravichandran Ashwin etched his name into the history books of the sport by claiming 500 Test wickets earlier today. The spinner dismissed Zak Crawley on Day 2 of the Rajkot Test to unlock the remarkable milestone.

Ashwin became the only second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble to enter the 500 wickets elite ball club. Also, the spinner was the fastest to reach the milestone.

Meanwhile, after a long day, Ashwin shared a few words on his latest achievement in a post-game interview. The spinner reflected on the remarkable journey of the whites and dedicated the historic milestone to his father. Ashwin added that his father stood like a rock with him through thick and thin, and without his support, he wouldn't have made it this far.

"I mean it’s been a quite journey. I want to dedicate this to my father. He has been through thick and thin throughout my career. He has gotten heart-attacks every time I play. 500 wickets done and dusted. I feel the game is nicely balanced right now," said Ashwin.

Furthermore, Ashwin reviewed Day 2's play and reckoned that the game was evenly poised. He confessed that England's baseball intent put India under pressure.

"It’s pretty fresh. The way England are playing, you don’t get to bowl more overs. They are giving us less time to think. Playing ODI cricket in Tests and less labor for us to be honest," he added.

However, the veteran firmly believes the wicket will worsen for batters as the game progresses. Also, Ashwin believes India managed to crawl back into the game, and a couple of early wickets in the morning would shift the odds to their side.

The key is to be disciplined with lines and lengths is what the spinner believes.

"The surfaces we have played in this series have helped the batters in the first 3-4 days. I feel this surface will get difficult to bat on as the game progresses. We have managed to crawl back in the game. We just have to be disciplined with our lines and lengths. I feel it’s neck-to-neck right now. We have to bowl well and make sure that we don’t react and make wrong decisions," he concluded.

Overall, Ravichandran Ashwin feels that as long as India bowls in the right areas and does not make any wrong decisions on Day 3, they should be able to position themselves in the winning spot.

England concluded Day 2 with 207 runs on board at the loss of two wickets. Centurion Ben Duckett and Joe Root remain firm in the middle.
