The stadium was abuzz with laughter as onlookers witnessed a comical incident involving the umpire falling for a fake rain scare not once but twice during the India vs Nepal cricket match of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. India had won the toss and elected to bowl, and Nepal's innings appeared to be on the brink of disruption on three separate occasions.

First, immediately after the coin toss, then after the completion of the 30th over, and just before the commencement of the 35th over. However, in all these instances, it turned out to be nothing more than a prank. Play was momentarily halted, but it wasn't enough to send the players off the field. When this happened twice within a span of four overs, it left everyone in fits of laughter.

A video creating a buzz online shows Hardik Pandya and the umpire engaging in a fun banter on the field. Hardik is seen laughing and playfully hugging the umpire in the video.

After Mohammed Siraj delivered the 30th over, a light drizzle began. Play was briefly paused, and ground staff rushed onto the field with covers to protect the pitch. However, the rain mysteriously ceased before they could reach the pitch, prompting a hasty retreat. The Indian players, who hadn't left the field yet, resumed their positions.

Then, just as Ravindra Jadeja was about to bowl the 35th over, a drizzle resumed. The Nepal batters hurried toward the dugout, but the Indian players stood their ground. This time, the interruption was even shorter than the previous one, leaving Hardik Pandya unable to contain his laughter. He burst into fits of laughter, hugged the umpire, and playfully teased him. The stumps were briefly removed but quickly returned to their positions.

After a playful back-and-forth with the rain, heavy showers finally arrived during the 38th over, compelling the players to leave the field. What had started as a drizzle had now turned into a downpour, leading to a substantial interruption.

Nepal reached a score of 178/6 before the rain break, and they were undoubtedly the happier of the two teams. India had a shaky start in the first ten overs, allowing Nepal to race to 65 at a brisk pace. India also dropped three catches and exhibited subpar ground fielding, drawing criticism from commentators. Shardul Thakur finally provided the breakthrough for India, dismissing Kushal Bhurtel, who nicked the ball to the wicketkeeper.

Ultimately, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill's heroics helped India clinch a 10-wicket victory.
