Hardik Pandya seems to be perpetually bearing the wrath of Mumbai Indians fans, ever since he was appointed as the new captain of the franchise for the IPL 2024 season.

Back in November 2023, the star all-rounder was acquired by the Mumbai Indians management from Gujarat Titans. The following month, the franchise announced him as their new captain, thus replacing decade-long skipper and five-time IPL winner Rohit Sharma in the process.

Be it on social media or within the hallowed arenas of IPL 2024, a number of Rohit Sharma fans have expressed their displeasure over their favorite cricketer’s demotion. 

Moreover, a large segment of the Ahmedabad crowd even booed Hardik Pandya when the all-rounder took field at the venue on March 24 for Mumbai Indians’ opening match of the season.

As it turned out, constant jeering and abusive taunts seems to have finally irked Pandya, as he visibly expressed his frustration at a section of a crowd in Hyderabad on March 27.

Akash Ambani, son of Mumbai Indians owner Mukesh Ambani, attended Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium to witness team’s away IPL 2024 game against SRH.

At one point of the contest, Akash was spotted having an intense chat with Mumbai Indians’ newly-appointed skipper Hardik Pandya near the boundary line. As Pandya rushed his way back to the dressing room, the cricketer was greeted with chants of ‘Rohit Rohit…’ from a number of Rohit Sharma fans.

The star all-rounder, visibly frustrated by repeated jeering, banged his hand on the fencing in response as he stormed into the pavilion.

Meanwhile, under Hardik Pandya’s leadership, the Mumbai Indians sustained big losses in each of their first two games of the IPL 2024 season.

They will now face the Rajasthan Royals group in match number 14 of the tournament on April 1 at the Wankhede Stadium.
