Under-fire Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya sustained another defeat this IPL 2024 season, this time at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the latter’s home ground on March 27.

Batting first, SRH stacked up a colossal 277-run total upfront off the back of thunderbolt half-centuries from Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma and a turbulent 34-ball 80* from Heinrich Klaasen.

Several fans and cricket experts questioned Pandya’s leadership tactic for introducing ace paceman Jasprit Bumrah too late in the high-scoring SRH innings. 

The discussion was also a topic of debate the following evening during Rajasthan Royals’ home game against Delhi Capitals, considering a couple of on-air commentators were captured dissecting Pandya’s latest performance as captain.


IPL 2024 commentators discuss Hardik Pandya’s tactic

A couple of IPL 2024 commentators, including former Australian World Cup winner Matthew Hayden, discussed Hardik Pandya’s “questionable” strategies as captain during his recent Mumbai Indians outing against SRH.

While one of the commentators slammed Pandya for introducing Jasprit Bumrah later in the SRH innings, Hayden excluded the all-rounder from his personal list of ‘IPL’s greatest captains’, which included Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni.

Interestingly, the two commentators discussed the same during match number nine of the IPL 2024 season between Delhi Capitals and hosts Rajasthan Royals on March 28.

Hardik Pandya, meanwhile, is already boring the wrath of several Mumbai Indians and Rohit Sharma fans ever since he was appointed as the new captain of the franchise.
