The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has revealed plans for an upcoming inter-club ODI tournament scheduled for April, featuring teams from 16 diverse regions. Participation is open to all clubs registered under the PCB constitution, promising a platform for emerging talent.

This tournament holds the potential to be a remarkable event, providing numerous opportunities for players to showcase their skills and make a mark on the cricketing stage.

Pakistan need fresh talents

With 32 years having passed since Pakistan's last ODI World Cup victory, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is actively seeking new talent to re-energize their team. While the Pakistan Super League (PSL) serves as a talent-hunting platform, the focus on ODI tournaments for talent scouting marks a strategic shift.

In an era where T20 tournaments dominate talent scouting efforts, prioritising ODI tournaments demonstrates a forward-thinking approach by Pakistan, aiming to cultivate a balanced squad capable of excelling in various formats of the game.

New clubs are welcome - PCB

PCB is set to welcome registrations from new clubs. Clubs eager to join can submit their registration applications via their local District/ Zonal Cricket Association, sticking to the guidelines specified in the Model Constitution.

Every club taking part will have the opportunity to play a minimum of three matches during the pool stage. The tournament will strictly follow the PCB's guidelines and regulations for One-Day matches.

Pakistan's cricketing prowess may not match the ferocity of the 90s, but this initiative holds promise in unearthing new talents akin to Babar Azam or Shaheen Afridi from rural Pakistan.
