After a mixed tour of Australia, Virat Kohli is gearing up to face South Africa in the upcoming three-match ODI series. On Tuesday, November 25, the former Indian captain touched down in India from his home in England and is expected to join his teammates for training ahead of the opening fixture.
Kohli, along with fellow seasoned pro Rohit Sharma, was included in the Team India squad by the BCCI for the upcoming ODIs. The series also serves as an early roadmap for India’s plans for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Virat Kohli reaches India for national duty after break
Virat Kohli is set to resume his national duties for Team India through the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa at home. The legendary batter was spotted arriving at the airport on November 25, i.e., roughly five days before the ODI series opener in Ranchi.
With Virat Kohli now arriving in India from his England home, the 37-year-old will be expected to join his teammates soon for the pre-ODI series training session.
The series marks Virat Kohli’s return to the national team after a gap of a month, considering the legendary batter last graced the national jersey back in late-October during a three-match ODI series in Australia. While the cricketer was dismissed for ducks in the first two ODIs, he punched out a sizzling 74* during his match-winning partnership with fellow ageing veteran Rohit Sharma against the hosts in the dead-rubber.
The ODI series against South Africa will be played between November 30 and December 6. The first match will be hosted by the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi, while the subsequent two fixtures will be staged at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Nava Raipur and the VDCA Stadium in Vizag, respectively.
