Virat Kohli, who was declared ICC ODI Player of the Year 2023 back in January, has finally received his overdue award in New York ahead of India’s opening match of the 2024 T20 World Cup.

The legendary Indian batter also received his cap for finding a place in ICC Men’s ODI Team of the Year 2023.

Kohli minted 1,377 runs in just 24 innings throughout the year 2023 at a prolific average of 72.47. The cricketer plundered eight half-centuries and six tons in the process, and maintained a staggering strike-rate of 99.13.

Moreover, the 35-year-old hammered 765 of those runs at the 2023 World Cup in India to bag the ‘Player of the Tournament’ award. Through the course of his high-volume World Cup run at home, the cricketer pounded the 50th ODI century of his illustrious career, thus surpassing Sachin Tendulkar (49 centuries) for the all-time record.

As of now, Virat Kohli is gearing up alongside the rest of his Indian colleagues for the 2024 T20 World Cup. Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, the ‘Men in Blue’ will go up against Ireland in their opening Group A game on June 5 at New York’s Nassau County International Stadium.
