Anderson's reaction as he got Dhaliwal [X]
The United States' all-rounder Corey Anderson had a tremendous start to the T20 World Cup 2024 as he picked up a wicket on his very first ball. The former New Zealand cricketer got rid of Navneet Dhaliwal, who struck a blazing fifty to record the first half-century of the competition.
The incident occurred during the 15th over of Canada's innings when Dhaliwal and Nicholas Kirton were guiding them to a formidable total.
USA skipper Monank Patel's decision to bring Anderson into the attack worked wonders for the co-hosts, with the left-arm pacer dismissing the half-centurion Dhaliwal on his first ball.
Anderson bowled a cutter around the full-length, inviting the batter for a lofted shot. Dhaliwal fell in the trap and got caught while trying to clear the fence.
Jasmeet Singh, stationed at long off, took a simple catch and put an end to his innings. Before getting out, the explosive right-handed batter struck six fours and three sixes for a glorious 44-ball 61.
Meanwhile, despite losing his partner-in-crime, Kirton seems to be at his destructive best in the middle. The left-hander is batting on 49*, with Canada placed at 155 for three in 17 overs as of writing.
