Under Rohit Sharma, India will look to clinch their second-ever T20 World Cup title when the Indian contingent kicks off their 2024 edition campaign on June 5 against Ireland in New York.

Apart from Sharma, India's batting revolves around former skipper Virat Kohli, who will look to clinch the only ICC trophy missing from his illustrious cabinet. However, due to his late arrival in the United States of America (USA), Kohli missed India's warm-up against Bangladesh and also missed almost every practice session that the Men in Blue participated.

Why did Virat miss India's training session?

According to OneCricket correspondant Vimal Kumar, Kohli missed training on Sunday in Cantiague Park, where Team India were given a rest as South Africa and Sri Lanka held their respective net sessions before their Group D clash in ICC T20WC 2024 today.

Kohli is expected to feature in India's training session on today, with the timings still unclear.

The batting maestro, who after permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) delayed his travel for the tournament, was the last player to join the side in the US. The 35-year-old did feature in the pre-match drills during India's encounter against Bangladesh.

Kohli is coming into the competition on hot heels having finished the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 as the highest run-getter, featuring for the fourth-placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

The former RCB skipper stockpiled 741 runs in 15 IPL matches, winning the coveted Orange Cap for the second time in his long career.

Interestingly, Kohli is also the highest run-scorer in the history of the T20 World Cup, with 1,141 runs in 27 matches starting from 2012.
