The ninth edition of the much-beloved ICC T20 World Cup is underway in the West Indies and the United States Of America (USA), where as many as 20 teams are participating, including former winners like India, Pakistan, Australia, and Windies.

Appointed as brand ambassador for the competition by the International Cricket Council (ICC), former India legend Yuvraj Singh has picked his top-three favourites to win the 2024 edition, which interestingly does not include one of history's most dominant cricketing sides.

As quoted by Hindustan Times, Singh star of the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2008, left out former champions Australia and named India, West Indies, and Pakistan as potential finalists.

Singh stated that if India plays to their potential, they might end up lifting the coveted trophy.

I'm hoping India - Yuvraj Singh

"I just feel that we played the World Cup 2007 final and we've been the qualifying semis and I think it's just a matter of time...I believe we have the self-belief of winning big tournaments. I think if India believes and backs themselves and play to their own strengths, I'm sure they'll go all the way. And that's what I believe in.  I'm hoping India, probably West Indies. Pakistan 3, and no Australians (laughs),"

Speaking during a fan event, the two-time World Cup winner, stated that Virat Kohli could end up being the leading run-getter in the tournament, given his recent outing in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

Meanwhile, Australia under Mitchell Marsh's captaincy are chasing their second T20 title, having lifted the trophy in 2021. Marsh and Co. play their first match on June 5 against Oman in Barbados.
