Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag has decided to skip the 2024 T20 World Cup as a spectator. Known for his honesty and self-belief, the 22-year-old declared his lack of interest during his recent appearance on the TRS podcast.

Parag said that his ambition is to feature in India’s World Cup squad instead, and implied that he wants to focus on his goals in the meantime.

A few days after the conclusion of the IPL 2024 season, Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag appeared on the TRS podcast. When he was asked to offer his predictions for the top four sides of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA, the 22-year-old declined to respond and claimed that he will not be watching the tournament.

The cricketer added that he will surely give his predictions the day he gets selected in the national team for the high-profile competition. Riyan Parag said:

“It will be a biased answer. I don’t even want to watch the World Cup. When I will play, I will think about top four and all of that.”

Riyan Parag enjoyed a prolific IPL 2024 season with the bat for the Rajasthan Royals franchise. In his 14 innings, the cricketer tallied 573 runs at an astonishing average of 52.09. The 22-year-old also composed his runs at a staggering strike-rate of nearly 150, and bashed four scores of fifty or above in the tournament.

Overall, Riyan Parag finished IPL 2024 as the third highest run-getter of the season, finding himself only behind ‘Orange Cap’ winner Virat Kohli and CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.
