Seems like Champions Trophy has become a headache for all the cricket boards. Pakistan were the hosts, but reports circulated that the BCCI were reluctant to travel to Pakistan, and instead, wanted a hybrid model for the event.

Champions Trophy to take place in Pakistan

However, if the latest reports are to be believed, then the Champions Trophy is most likely taking place in Pakistan and BCCI have no other choice, but to accept the proposal. The ICC Annual General Meeting took place on July 22, which was attended by PCB chief, Mohsin Naqvi and BCCI Secretary, Jay Shah.

The latest reports state that ICC has approved the budget for the Champions Trophy to take place in Pakistan. Also, no extra budget for the hybrid model has been allocated, as discussed before.

The BCCI also suffered a major jolt as no discussion related to replacing Pakistan as CT host was discussed in the General Meeting held in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Earlier this month, reports stated that if India are to avoid going to Pakistan for the mega event, then they will be replaced by Sri Lanka, who have been put on stand-by.

If Champions Trophy indeed takes place in Pakistan, then it will be the first ICC event to be held their since the 1996 World Cup.
