As per emerging reports, the International Cricket Council might replace India with Sri Lanka for the upcoming Champions Trophy if the BCCI doesn't send the men's team to Pakistan for the marquee event.

According to several Pakistani media outlets, the apex body might actually move on from India, replacing them with the Lankan Lions if the Indian government doesn't allow the men's team to travel to Pakistan.

No room for hybrid model; India to be replaced by SL?

Pakistan has the official right to host the much-awaited Champions Trophy next year. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has even revealed the proposed schedule, with the hosts taking on New Zealand in the tournament opener.

However, considering the political tensions between two countries, the Indian government won't likely approve the team's tour to the neighbouring nation.

In such a scenario, the BCCI had asked for an alternative hybrid model, with India playing their matches in either Sri Lanka or Dubai.

However, as claimed by several Pakistani journalists, the PCB will likely reject the hybrid model, compelling the ICC to replace India with Sri Lanka if the former refuse to tour the country for the Champions Trophy.

Nevertheless, considering India's non-participation will financially affect the tournament, the ICC might force the PCB to adopt a hybrid mode and conduct the Champions Trophy like the Asia Cup last year.
