The Joburg Super Kings welcomed their star pacer, Matheesha Pathirana, in grand style for the upcoming SA20 tournament, comparing his arrival to WWE superstar, The Undertaker.

SA20 league's season 3 is scheduled from January 9 to February 8 next year and the auction process for the same took place at Cape Town on October 1, 2024.

With 13 slots to fill, Paarl Royals, Durban Super Giants, MI Cape Town, Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Pretoria Capitals, and Joburg Super Kings featured in the auction.

Pathirana gets grand welcome from Joburg Super Kings!

With the squads finalised, Joburg Super Kings released a player welcome video for Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana. 

Pathirana was a key player for CSK in the IPL. His unique bowling action and ability to perform under pressure have earned him the admiration of fans worldwide.

Now, he's set to bring his talent to the SA20 as part of the Joburg Super Kings, a franchise that shares ownership with the IPL team.

The Joburg Super Kings' social media team embraced Pathirana's arrival with a dramatic flair, posting a video that evoked memories of The Undertaker's iconic entrance in WWE.

The video, which showed Pathirana's trademark celebration with Undertaker's theme song in the background, fuelled the excitement around his presence in the tournament.

Devon Conway to play for Joburg in SA20 2025

Before Matheesha Pathirana, Joburg Super Kings signed another CSK batter, Devon Conway, for the upcoming SA20 season. Conway, an integral part of CSK, also plays for Texas Super Kings in Major League cricket. 

As for his recent performances, Conway scored 293 runs in eight MLC games, including three fifties. But he missed the IPL 2024 season with a thumb injury.

The SA20 2025 season will begin on January 9, 2025, with Sunrisers Eastern Cape starting as defending champions.
