The ongoing edition of Legends League Cricket is halfway through. On Tuesday, October 1, Manipal Tigers took on Southern Super Stars at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. New Zealand's Martin Guptill entered carnage mode as his heroics helped SSS beat the Tigers by 42 runs. 

Super Stars, batting first, rode on Guptill's power-hitting as the Kiwi blasted 68 (29), which featured eight fours and four sixes. Talking about his knock, he went all guns blazing and whacked every bowler out of the park, Dan Christian, in particular.

Guptill Takes On Christian And Shatters Comm Box's Glass Window

Christian bowled just a solitary over in the game and got hit for 30 runs in that over. Guptill smashed four consecutive sixes. On the first ball of the 9th over, the right-hand batter hit one flat six over deep mid-wicket to start the over on a high.

On the following delivery, Guptill brought up his fifty with a six over deep square leg that got the crowd dancing. There was no stopping Guptill as he whacked another one over deep mid-wicket to hit three sixes in a row. 

He saved the best for the last and smashed the fourth six of the over over long on and it shattered the window of the commentary box. The dug-out too were impressed by the shot as Tigers captain Harbhajan Singh stood in disbelief.



With the win, SSS are on top of the table with four wins in a row, while the Tigers are placed fifth on the table as they are eyeing their first win of the tournament. 

Martin Guptill Retirement

After being not the preferred choice for the playing XI during the 2023 World Cup, Martin Guptill opted out of the central contract and later announced his retirement from international cricket on November 26.
