Durban’s Super Giants franchise has hired former South African speedster Allan Donald as its new bowling coach for the upcoming 2025 season of SA20. Donald, a veteran of 72 Tests and 164 ODIs, took 602 international wickets between 1991 and 2003.

The former South African paceman recently served the Bangladesh cricket team as its fast-bowling coach.

Former South African fast bowler Allan Donald, who earned the nickname ‘White Lightning’ for his fearsome pace, has joined the Durban’s Super Giants (DSG) franchise as its bowling coach for the upcoming SA20 2025 season.

Head coach Lance Klusener currently helms the DSG coaching staff. Donald will also be joining ex-teammate Jonty Rhodes and Sridharan Sriram within the coaching setup of the franchise.

Allan Donald has previously coached for IPL franchises like the Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bengaluru as well as the now-defunct Pune Warriors India. One of his recent stints marked his tenure as the bowling coach of the Bangladesh cricket team.

Regardless, the SA20 2025 season is scheduled to launch on January 9 next year. The month-long competition will be played between six teams and will feature 34 matches, including the playoffs and the final.

All participating franchises are bracing themselves for the auction, which will be held on October 1. Durban’s Super Giants squad already consists of explosive T20 players like Brandon King, Quinton de Kock, Marcus Stoinis, and all-time batting great Kane Williamson, among others.
