The wait is over as the schedule for the much-awaited third edition of the SA20 has been officially announced, and it has set the stage for a thrilling summer of cricket in South Africa.

Fans across the country can mark their calendars, with the SA20 action set to kick off on 9 January 2025 and build up to an epic conclusion with the final at the Wanderers Stadium on 8 February. The fixtures for this exhilarating third season were unveiled in Johannesburg on Monday.

Sunrisers Eastern Cape vs MI Cape Town to kick off SA20 2025

The season opener is sure to be a clash of the heavyweights, as back-to-back champions Sunrisers Eastern Cape (SEC) launch their bid for an unprecedented hat-trick of titles. They will lock horns with MI Cape Town (MICT) at St George’s Park in what promises to be a firecracker of a match.

SEC’s skipper, Aiden Markram, will be leading his troops into battle against MICT’s new superstar recruit, Ben Stokes, in a contest that is bound to set the tone for the rest of the tournament.

Hot on the heels of the opener, last season’s runners-up, Durban’s Super Giants, will host the Pretoria Capitals at Kingsmead on Friday, 11 January. The Capitals will then return to action the very next day, hosting the formidable Sunrisers.

As the weekend unfolds, Sunday will bring a blockbuster encounter, as the Joburg Super Kings take on their arch-rivals MI Cape Town—a match that promises to be nothing short of a nail-biter.

Three Venues To Host SA20 2025 Playoffs

The tournament will follow the tried-and-tested playoff structure from 2024, but with a twist. The 2025 playoffs will be spread across three venues.

The top two teams will square off in Qualifier 1 at St George’s Park, while the third and fourth-placed teams will battle it out in the Eliminator at Centurion.

The stakes will be sky-high as the loser of the first Qualifier and the winner of the Eliminator face off in a do-or-die Qualifier 2, also at Centurion, for a coveted spot in the SA 2024 finale at the Wanderers.
