The Pakistan cricket team has once again found itself at the centre of social media satire following an absurd field collision between Usman Khan and Shaheen Afridi during the T20 World Cup game against Ireland.

Pakistan cricket team, led by Babar Azam, stepped out at Lauderhill Stadium to face Ireland in the final group stage game of the 2024 T20 World Cup. PAK, who were already eliminated from the tournament, were fighting for pride.

Interestingly, the Pakistan bowlers seemed to be in great form for the first time in this tournament, as they reduced Ireland to 32/6.

Meanwhile, Imad Wasim lured Mark Adair in a fullish delivery. Adair went after it to log a six but fell short off the boundary ropes at long on, where two Pakistani fielders, Usman Khan and Shaheen Afridi, collided.

Neither of the fielders called for the catch and converged into one another. While Afridi managed to hold onto the catch, Usman and he were badly injured and down on the ground.

Meanwhile, as Pakistan’s trend of comical and substandard fielding display continued, fans on the X platform (formerly known as Twitter) made a mockery out of the fielders. A user even used satire to state that Usman tried to injure Shaheen.

Many called out Usman Khan’s fielding standards and accused him of mindlessly running around the ground chasing the ball and not paying attention to his teammates around him.

That being said, Shaheen Afridi had a good outing against Ireland as he chipped 2 wickets in his four overs. On the other hand, Usman Khan’s poor run in the T20 World Cup continued as he was dismissed off just 2 runs in the 107-run chase.
