Imad Wasim took three wickets of his first two overs on Sunday against Ireland while conceding just two runs for Pakistan in Match 36 of T20 World Cup 2024 in Florida.

It all started with one of the softest of dismissals, as Gareth Delany, who seemed the only hope of Ireland’s torturous innings, became his first victim. In the process, Delany became the first wicket of the Pakistani spinners in the ongoing edition.

It was slower in the air by Imad, who has been heavily criticised lately, and Delany, who smashed three sixes and one four in a brisk 19-ball 31, could only get a leading edge after being bamboozled. Placed at point, Shadab Khan, Imad’s spin twin, completed a simple catch, and with that, Ireland’s hopes went shattered.

Wasim, meanwhile, even came to bowl the 20th over of the game. Unfortunately, he could not any more wickets to his tally, as his figures read 4-0-8-3.

Ireland, after Babar Azam won the toss and asked them to bat, finished with 106/9, courtesy of a late brisk of Joshua Little, who remained unbeaten on 22* off 18 balls.
