Gujarat Titans overcame Mumbai Indians by three wickets off the last ball in Mumbai in match 56 of the IPL 2025 season. Mumbai Indians batted first and carted 155-8 from 20 overs. Will Jacks top-scored for the hosts with a half-century, while Suryakumar Yadav and Corbin Bosch unleashed valiant runs from their ends. For the Titans, spinners Sai Kishore and Rashid Khan tangled up the hosts during the middle overs.
Chasing 147 in 19 overs after a couple of rain delays, captain Shubman Gill compiled 43 runs from 46 balls for the Titans. Even though Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah and Ashwani Kumar tilted the tide back in Mumbai Indians’ favor with crucial wickets late in the game, Titans managed to scamper through in a topsy-turvy final over.
Rohit Sharma Likely To Be Dropped From England Tests: Report
Indian captain Rohit Sharma will reportedly be dropped from the travelling squad for the upcoming five-match Test tour of England. As per reports, a major development regarding the legendary Indian opener is likely to be made this week. Sharma is undergoing one of the worst phases of his batting career in Tests, scoring just 619 runs in 14 matches at an average of 24.76 last year. Moreover, under his leadership, Team India lost their home series to New Zealand by a 0-3 margin, and lost to Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series by 1-3.
Injured Taskin Ahmed To Make Return In SL Series
Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is set to make his return to international cricket through his team’s upcoming away series against Sri Lanka. The speedster was ruled out of Bangladesh’s recent home series against Zimbabwe owing to an injury.
Ahmed went to London for a medical consultation with specialists regarding his Achilles tendon injury last month. The Bangladesh team is set to tour Sri Lanka for a series of two Tests, three ODIs and three T20I matches starting from mid-June.
Sri Lanka Hire R Sridhar For 10-Day Programme
Former Indian fielding coach R Sridhar has been appointed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) to conduct a “comprehensive 10-day fielding programme” for men’s and women’s Sri Lankan cricketers. However, the Sri Lankan women’s team will only be available to participate in a part of the programme since they are currently facing India and South Africa in a home ODI tri-series.
SLC stated that R Sridhar will be conducting fielding drills, skill-specific training and simulated match scenarios for Sri Lanka players.
Gary Ballance To Coach ZIM For England Test
Zimbabwe Cricket has appointed former England cricketer Gary Ballance as a coaching consultant for their upcoming one-off four-day Test match against England. Notably, Ballance has played international cricket for both, England and Zimbabwe, until confirming his retirement from all formats in mid-2023.
The Zimbabwe cricket team is scheduled to face hosts England at Trent Bridge between May 22 and May 25 for a historic one-off Test. Both cricket boards have already confirmed their entire squads for the same.
