Taskin Ahmed All Set To Make International Comeback
The right-arm pacer, Taskin Ahmed who has been a spearhead for Bangladesh Cricket in all formats with his express pace and invariable bounce, has been troubled by an Achilles tendon injury, which has caused him much concern.
The pacer, who has done a decent job so far for his national side, recently missed the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe, whereas he went to London for a medical consultation with specialists regarding the issue. Adding to this, the pacer will also be missing the upcoming series against Pakistan and the UAE, combining a total of 7 T20I matches.
Taskin, who had been checked by an ankle surgeon, a sports physician, and a sports physiotherapist, was evaluated and assessed by the best in their field, and a detailed plan was formulated for the pacer, who is of much importance to the Bangla Tigers' side.
With all the medical evidence and thorough checkups, it has been decided that he would be managed through non-surgical treatment, which would include a comprehensive rehabilitation plan to ensure he recovers in time for the all-important Test series against Sri Lanka in June.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will be responsible for overseeing Taskin's progress throughout his rehabilitation journey and ensure that he receives the best medical facilities at his disposal.
BCB's senior physician, Debashish Chowdhury, further dwelled into the matter and revealed that this approach has been adopted by the Board regarding Taskin's injury, after the physician also went to London alongside Taskin for the visit.
"The specialists believe that a conservative, non-surgical approach is the best course of action for Taskin at this time. The rehabilitation programme is tailored to gradually restore his fitness and manage the tendon condition effectively. We are optimistic about his progress. Taskin is expected to regain match fitness by early June, pending successful completion of his rehabilitation."
