Another massive news arriving from the Pakistan camp is that the high-performance red-ball coach Tim Nielsen has been fired by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) before the crucial South Africa series. It is now being reported that the head coach Jason Gillespie, might also be set free from his duties before his contract expires in mid-2026.
Nielsen was given the contract in the side on the recommendation of Gillespie in August this year, which ran till the Australia series and was set for renewal. However, the PCB, known to have some complicated policies, have decided against renewing his contract.
The assistant coach has openly expressed his disappointment in terms that "they were progressing well and preparing for the upcoming series against South Africa and West Indies." The team would now move to the Rainbow Nation for the Test series without Nielsen.
Gillespie To Be On Knife's Edge After The South Africa Series
Meanwhile, Gillespie's role in the side has been limited to a mere match-day strategist as he was let go of his previous duties from the selection panel. Another point of frustration for the pacer comes from the fact that he was neither informed nor consulted regarding the sacking of Nielsen.
This significant development keeps Gillespie at bay as there are speculations that he might be fired from his role after the South Africa series. However, PCB had previously refuted the rumours regarding the Australian's job position for the upcoming series and affirmed that he would remain an integral part of the team.
The tension in the camp may remain for a while until the decks are cleared for Gillespie after the two-match series in South Africa, for which he would be leaving on 13th December from his home in Australia.
