Controversial Indian and Mumbai cricketer Prithvi Shaw has been in the news for quite some time for all the wrong reasons, however, this time, the youngster has done the right thing to get into the limelight. The right-hander playing for Mumbai smacked a brilliant 49 in the quarterfinals against Vidarbha off just 26 deliveries.

The 25-year-old, having the age on his side, has turned the fortunes in his favour on this particular occasion during the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy game against Vidarbha, where Mumbai were chasing a mammoth target of 222 in the quarterfinals, and Shaw came all guns blazing.

With adequate support from his partner, Ajinkya Rahane, who rocked the opposition with his breezy 84 from 45 deliveries, Shaw helped Mumbai chase the target down in 19.2 overs. The young batter scored runs at a strike rate of 188 while shattering four sixes and five fours.

However, while on 49, he played a loose shot and threw his wicket away to long-off who came running in and sent Shaw packing. His careless shot could have proved costly, but middle-order batters Shivam Dube and Suryansh Shedge finished the job for their side with four balls to spare as Mumbai progressed to the semi-finals.

Shaw Went Unsold In The IPL Auction

Last month, during the IPL mega-auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, Prithvi went unsold after no franchise raised their paddle for him. His previous team, Delhi Capitals, too, stayed away from bidding for him.

Shaw, who was touted to be one of the future stars of Indian cricket, lost his way in the previous year or two with concerns regarding his fitness and discipline cropping time and time again. Previously, he was dropped from the Mumbai Ranji Trophy squad for having excess body fat.
