In other news, the ICC has announced an historic all-female officiating panel for the 2025 Women’s World Cup.

Sachin Tendulkar Denies Contesting For BCCI President

Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has denied contesting for the President’s role of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). As stated by his management company, SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd, the legendary ex-batter has distanced himself from the rumours circulating regarding the same.

It is worth noting that the BCCI President role is currently up for grabs, considering 1983 World Cup winner Roger Binny recently stepped down from the position citing the board’s age mandate.

Washington Sundar Signs With Hampshire For County 2025

Hampshire Cricket Club has penned a short-team deal with Indian spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar for the remainder of the ongoing 2025 County Championship Division One season. Sundar has played County cricket in the past, having represented Lancashire during the 2022 season in England.

As of now, the Hampshire team is scheduled to face just Somerset and Surrey in their final two games of the tournament. They will go up against the Somerset group in Taunton next week between September 15 and September 18.

ICC Name All-Female Panel For Women’s World Cup 2025

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced an all-female panel for the upcoming 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The officiating panel, including the umpires and referees, now comprises solely of women, thus marking the first-ever occurrence of such in tournament’s 50-plus year history.

Among the referees, the ICC named Trudy Anderson, Shandré Fritz, GS Lakshmi and Michelle Pereira. Meanwhile, the 13-member umpiring panel features the likes of Lauren Agenbag, Candace la Borde, Kim Cotton, Sarah Dambanevana, Shathira Jakir Jesy among others.

Keshav Maharaj Ruled Out Of England T20I Series

South Africa has suffered another injury setback on their ongoing white-ball tour of England, with ace spinner Keshav Maharaj getting ruled out of the T20I series. The 35-year-old tweaked his groin during a warm-up session before the series-opening first T20I match at the Sophia Gardens in Cardiff.

Maharaj has now joined fast bowler Lungi Ngidi and seasoned explosive batter David Miller in South Africa’s dreaded line of injury concerns in the T20Is. The senior left-arm spinner played a key role in South Africa’s ODI series win over England earlier this month, picking up eight wickets in just three innings to bag the ‘Player of the Series’ award.

Injury Scare For PAK Captain Agha Salman Amid Asia Cup 2025

Pakistan captain and all-rounder Agha Salman was spotted with a bandaged neck during a training session ahead of his team’s opening Asia Cup 2025 match against Oman. As reported by Geo Super, the cricketer has sustained a neck spasm, which prompted him to skip Pakistan’s training routine in the UAE. His teammates, on the other hand, engaged in various drills like “warm-ups, stretching drills and even football to loosen up”, as per the official Pakistan-based news outlet.
