In a concerning development for Pakistan, captain Agha Salman was spotted with a taped neck ahead of their Asia Cup 2025 opener against Oman. Pakistan are placed in group A and will lock horns with Oman before crossing swords against arch-rivals India and the United Arab Emirates.

Agha Salman Skips Practice Session Due To Injury

According to a report from the reputed media agency Geo Super, Agha Salman sustained a neck spasm, which forced him to sit out of Pakistan's training session before the Asia Cup encounter against Oman.

The Pakistani skipper was seen with a bandaged neck and decided against pushing his body during the training. While his teammates were involved in warm-up exercises and football sessions, Salman refrained from rigorous physical activities.

However, the Pakistan Cricket Board's media manager disclosed that Agha Salman's injury is minor and the Men in Green are quite hopeful of his timely recovery before the Asia Cup clash against Oman on Friday.

Agha Salman's Importance For Pakistan In Asia Cup

Hailed for his all-round prowess, Agha Salman has been impressive as Pakistan's captain in T20 Internationals in the post-Rizwan era. The right-hander has immensely improved himself as a potent T20I batter, amassing 439 runs at an average of 33.77 and a strike rate of 122.97 this year.

His leadership has been a key reason behind Pakistan's rise as a T20I team in recent times. After leading the Men in Green to a historic triumph over the West Indies in the Caribbean, Salman also lifted the Tri-Nation Series trophy in the UAE.

Therefore, Salman is undoubtedly one of Pakistan's most important players, from the batting as well as captaincy perspective, and it will be a huge setback if his injury sidelines him from the crucial face-off against Oman.
