In a significant development, Sachin Tendulkar has officially denied speculation linking him to the role of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on September 11, 2025. In a strong statement released by his management company, SRT Sports Management Pvt Ltd, the legend has distanced himself from the rumours circulating regarding him.

According to official statement, Tendulkar has finally spoken about this topic as BCCI is preparing to hold elections for several important positions including President and IPL Chairman, during its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on September 28.

Tendulkar Breaks Silence On BCCI Presidency Speculation

The top position has been vacant since Roger Binny stepped down after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 70 earlier this month.

“It has come to our attention that certain reports and rumours have been circulating regarding Mr. Sachin Tendulkar being considered, or nominated, for the position of President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). We wish to categorically state that no such development has taken place. We urge all concerned to refrain from giving credence to unfounded speculations.”

The rumours began after the reports circulated that  former players could again be considered for top administrative roles, continuing a recent trend. Both Binny and Sourav Ganguly served as BCCI Presidents in the past.

However, according to reports, it is highly unlikely that Tendulkar would pursue or accept an administrative cricket role. The possibility of a state association nominating him as their representative for the AGM is also seen as uncertain.

Meanwhile, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal may be required to enter a mandatory cooling-off period. With the BCCI’s leadership in transition, it will be interesting to see who will step into the void left by Binny - and it appears clear that it won't be Sachin Tendulkar.
