Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad for the opening Test against Zimbabwe, introducing uncapped fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib to the red-ball setup. Senior pacer Taskin Ahmed has been ruled out of the two-match series due to a left Achilles tendon injury, with Tanzim, a veteran of 28 white-ball internationals, joining the pace attack.

The squad sees the return of wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim, who missed the West Indies tour, while opener Litton Das remains absent after prioritising the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Spin options are limited to Mehedy Hasan Miraz and Taijul Islam, with Nazmul Hossain Shanto leading the side.

BCB chief physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury confirmed Taskin’s absence. "Taskin is currently undergoing rehabilitation for his left Achilles tendon problem and is unavailable for this series."

Tanzim will share the pace duties with Hasan Mahmud, debutant Nahid Rana, and Syed Khaled Ahmed, who returns to the Test setup. Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad, part of the recent West Indies tour, has been omitted.

Wicketkeeping responsibilities fall to Mushfiqur, Mahidul Islam Ankon, and Jaker Ali, with Litton opting out despite being available post-PSL. The top-order features Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Sadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, and seasoned campaigner Mominul Haque.

The first Test begins on 20 April at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, followed by the second Test from 28 April at Chattogram.
