On Tuesday, April 8, Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns against Lucknow Super Giants at the Eden Gardens. The hosts won the toss and opted to field first. However the fans took to social media right after the toss and bombarded LSG's comment section with queries regarding their jersey.
Notably, the fans were expecting the Rishabh Pant-led side to don Mohun Bagan colours for the match against KKR, but they wore their regular jersey and it irked the fan. For the unversed, Mohun Bagan is one of the biggest football club in the country that is based in Kolkata.
Fans Get Angry At LSG For Not Wearing Mohun Bagan Colours
Meanwhile, LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka is a major stake-holder in Mohun Bagan and the club is also known as Mohun Bagan Super Giant. Thus, as a tradition to pay homage to the legendary football club, LSG are wearing a different jersey for the past two years.
The Club started the trend in 2023 when they wore the iconic Maroon and Green colours for the first time in IPL. Similarly, they wore the same jersey during LSG's away game against KKR in 2024. However, in the ongoing match, LSG didn't continue with the tradition and it has irked the fans.

Further, LSG management or their social media platform has provided no explanation regarding discontinuing this tradition of wearing Mohun Bagan jersey against KKR at Eden Gardens.
Although, it is worth noting that ahead of LSG vs KKR match, Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant attended the ISL semi-finals where Mohun Bagan advanced to the finals.
