Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Oman lost opening batter Naseem Khushi and captain Aqib Ilyas both cheaply inside the powerplay overs. Athavale was eventually holed out at deep midwicket off the bowling of Chris Greaves with a 40-ball 54 to his name. Ayaan (41*), meanwhile, clubbed a few in the death overs to take Oman to a competitive 150-7.
