Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam has lashed out at his side after a poor display with the bat against India in the T20 World Cup 2024 match.

Chasing a modest 120, Pakistan had the game in their bag, but some ordinary batting combined with a Jasprit Bumrah special spell ensured that the Men in Green lose the game by 6 runs, thus putting their Super 8 spot in jeopardy.

The Pakistan batting lineup collapsed like a pack of cards, and captain Babar was disappointed with his batters, as he expressed his frustration in the post-match presentation.

We were not upto the mark: Babar Azam

"I think we bowled well after 10 overs. We restricted them to 120 which was a good total here. We started well but we lost back-to-back wickets. We played too many dot balls and it didn't help."

Babar criticised the approach of the batters and stated that the team didn't capitalise on the opportunity provided to them.

"We tried to utilise the first six overs. But we were one wicket down and we were not up to the mark. We didn't capitalize properly and we failed to get across the line."

Babar and Pakistan opted to bowl first after winning the toss. The decision paid off immediately as India lost both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma early. However, Rishabh Pant played a brilliant cameo of 42, which helped the side cross the 100-run mark.
