In a remarkable achievement, India's promising spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar has been named among the ICC player of the month nominees for July. Sundar, who is currently representing the national side in the Sri Lanka ODIs, is the only Indian player to be included in the list.

ICC nominates Sundar, Atkinson and Cassell for player of the month

Apart from Sundar, English speedster Gus Atkinson and Scotland's lethal seamer Charlie Cassell are the other nominations for the prestigious award.

After making his comeback to the national setup, Sundar performed admirably for India in the shortest format, helping the Men in Blue clinch a phenomenal series victory against Zimbabwe.

The right-arm spinner oozed his class in the five-match series, scalping eight wickets, including a three-wicket haul at a surreal economy of 5.17.

Furthermore, he was impressive in the final dead-rubber against the Lankans, picking up the crucial wickets of Wanindu Hasaranga and Charith Asalanka in his four-over spell.

Meanwhile, England's Gus Atkinson had a remarkable start to his Test career, as he derailed West Indies with a sensational ten-wicket haul on his maiden appearance.

Atkinson wreaked havoc in the home series, scalping 22 wickets in just three games at an unbelievable strike rate of 24.22.

Talking about Charlie Cassell, the Scottish seamer became a household name after running through Oman with a seven-fer on ODI debut.

His extraordinary outing, which helped him record the best ODI bowling figures by a debutant, tempted the ICC to nominate him for the player of the month award.
