In a significant move, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to conduct a fitness test before the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

Notably, Pakistan will face the Bangla Tigers in two Test matches later this month. The first Test will be played in Rawalpindi, followed by the decider at the iconic National Stadium in Karachi

Fitness tests to decide players for Bangladesh series

Meanwhile, the PCB has boldly decided to prioritise improved fitness standards for its international cricketers. According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, the apex body has made up its mind to summon the Test players for a multi-level fitness assessment.

The players will formally be asked to appear on August 9 for the fitness test the next day. Nevertheless, some cricketers might undergo the tests earlier, depending on their availability.

The report also states that the PCB has deliberately delayed the announcement of the central contract, which will likely be revealed after five to six different fitness tests.

So, only the players meeting the international fitness standards will be included in the central contracts besides being considered for the Bangladesh series.

Additionally, some of the Test players will feature in the first four-day encounter against Bangladesh A to prove their fitness and get some game time before the high-voltage series.

If reports are to be believed, Pakistan's premier pacers, Naseem Shah and Mir Hamza, will participate in this red-ball affair.
