Sri Lanka Announce ODI World Cup Squad; Carry Injured Hasaranga, Theekshana

The 15-person Sri Lankan squad for the ODI World Cup will include Wanindu Hasaranga, Maheesh Theekshana, and Dilshan Madushanka, all of whom have not yet fully recovered.

Dasun Shanaka will continue to lead the Lankan lions, while Kusal Mendis will work as his deputy.

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Janith Perera, Dimuth Karunaratne, Charith Asalanka, Dananjaya De Silva, Sadeera Samarawickrama, Dunith Wellalage, Kasun Rajitha, Matheesha Pathirana and Lahiru Kumara are the other members who are picked in the main squad.




In addition, veteran all-rounder Angelo Mathews will not be part of the Sri Lankan squad in the upcoming mega event, set to get underway on October 5. As per emerging reports, the 36-year-old, who has played 22 ODIs in the showpiece event and made 533 runs, will not have one last dance in India.

Sri Lanka’s ODI World Cup campaign will begin on October 7, against South Africa in Delhi. Then they will play against Pakistan, on October 10 in Hyderabad.

To cover as backups, Dushan Hemantha and Chamika Karunaratne have been picked as Sri Lanka's travelling reserves for the World Cup.

Just to clear, neither the International Cricket Council (ICC) nor the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have confirmed Sri Lanka's final squad yet.
