Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) is yet to announce its national men's 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, which will be underway next month.

While rumours about white-ball skipper Dasun Shanaka stepping down as ODI leader have been dispelled, SLC are faced with another concern regarding ace all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

Hasaranga, who played a crucial role in Sri Lanka's qualifying for the main draw of the World Cup 2023, is currently in rehabilitation.

However, as reported by InsideSport, Hasaranga sustained another injury during rehab and could potentially miss the flight to India. The selectors are still awaiting clarity on Hasaranga's fitness and need to announce the Sri Lanka squad with the deadline approaching.

The Sri Lankan team is expected to depart for India on September 26. The RCB player injured himself in the recently concluded Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 while finishing as the leading run-getter (279) and wicket-taker (19).

Other Injury Concerns

Apart from Hasaranga, spinner Maheen Theekshana is also awaiting results on his fitness after injuring himself during Asia Cup 2023.

The likes of Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Kumara, and Dilshan Madushanka missed the Asia Cup 2023 due to respective injuries and are also hoping to recover in time for the marquee event.
