Indian opening batter Smriti Mandhana is set to miss a segment of the upcoming Women’s The Hundred 2024 season owing to the coinciding 2024 Women’s Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in July. The cricketer was initially slated to reprise her role for the Southern Brave franchise for the entirety of the tournament, having first joined the team back in 2021.

Mandhana recently pounded two centuries and a 90 against South Africa to star in India’s 3-0 series win in the ODI series.

Southern Brave announces Smriti Mandhana’s replacement

On June 25, the Southern Brave franchise announced uncapped Australian star Charli Knott as Smriti Mandhana’s The Hundred 2024 replacement for the duration of the 2024 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The franchise took to their social media accounts and confirmed the same roughly a month prior to the launch of the 100-ball tournament in England.

Smriti Mandhana was selected in India Women’s 15-player group for the impending 2024 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. The continental tournament is scheduled to launch with a match between Pakistan and Nepal on July 19, with India facing UAE the same day in Dambulla.

Mandhana is currently in India as part of the ‘Women in Blue’ group for the ongoing all-format home series against the visiting South African team.

Regardless, The Hundred 2024 Women’s season will be organized between July 23 and August 18. With the 2024 Asia Cup scheduled to conclude on July 28, the prolific Indian opening batter will be expected to join the Southern Brave franchise for the second week of the competition.
