In response to the national team's dismal performance at the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) initiated "Operation Clean Up".

The Babar Azam-led team started the tournament with a disappointing loss to the United States, failing to defend a 159-run target and losing in the Super Over. They then suffered a second consecutive defeat against India, unable to chase down a modest 120-run target.

However, Pakistan managed to secure a win against Canada, chasing a 107-run target with seven wickets and 15 balls to spare.

Six Pakistan Players Likely To Be Dropped

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, along with board officials and former cricketers, has decided to drop at least six players after the T20 World Cup 2024.

This decision targets players involved in team politics and underperformers. Reports suggest some players have retained their spots due to their good relationship with Captain Babar Azam, despite poor performances.

Concerns have emerged about Babar's captaincy and decision-making during the tournament, with many team members expressing dissatisfaction.

Chairman Naqvi plans to address the public at a press conference shortly, though it is anticipated that he won't identify any particular players.

The PCB aims to dismantle growing factionalism within the organization and is preparing for significant changes across various departments.

The squad is optimistic in spite of the criticism. In order to improve the performance of the national squad, the PCB plans to collaborate with past cricket players.

However, current players are unhappy with the timing of these statements, believing such issues should have been addressed after the T20 World Cup 2024.
