Pakistan Cricket Team have dealt another blow as a lawyer from Pakistan has filed a case against the national team following their disappointing run in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

The lawyer, who hails from Gujranwala city in Pakistan, was gutted after his side lost two straight games against the USA and India which brought immense embarrassment for the country.

Arab News reported that the lawyer was disappointed by the performance of Babar Azam and Co, which is why he filed a treason petition against the national cricket team. Notably, one of the meanings of 'Treason Petition' is a betrayal of trust by someone.

The lawyer stated that the players put financial gain over country's honour and wasted a lot of money by their trip to USA and West Indies.

“The petitioner expressed deep concern over the disappointing performance of the national cricket team, calling it a waste of money and a betrayal of the nation’s trust. The petition accuses the team of putting at stake millions of rupees and the integrity of the nation, alleging that the players and team management prioritized financial gain over the country’s honour, ” stated Samaa TV.

“Furthermore, the petition highlights the harm caused to the sentiments of the people during matches against America and India, citing these performances as particularly egregious. "

The lawyer also called for a ban on the team until a thorough inquiry is conducted by the interior secretary and a comprehensive report is completed.

Pakistan won their third game against Canada comfortably, but now they have to depend on other teams' results to qualify for the super 8. However, things are not looking good for Men in Green, as rain threat looms over their upcoming tie against Ireland and a washout would see them bow out of the tournament.

Talking about the case, the court has asked for a report from the police on the registration of the case and directed them to file it by June 21.
