Muhammad Mahdi passed away on December 29, 2025, in Harare at the tender age of 13. He was born with haemophilia, a rare medical condition that affects the blood’s ability to clot.

According to Zimbabwe Cricket, Mahdi died due to recent health complications linked to the condition. He was laid to rest a day later, on December 30, at Warren Hills Cemetery in Harare.
The cricket board released an emotional statement expressing solidarity with Sikandar Raza and his loved ones. It held prayers of strength, comfort, and peace during this time of grief.
Sikandar Raza is one of the most admired cricketers in Zimbabwe. The loss of a sibling, especially one so young, is a devastating blow for any family.
