In a phenomenal achievement, veteran pacer Hasan Ali became the Pakistan bowler with the most T20 wickets in a single year. Hasan Ali finishes the year 2025 with 73 wickets, becoming the Pakistan bowler with the most scalps in T20s in a single year.

Hasan Ali's BBL heroics places him atop in elusive PAK list

Unlike his Pakistani teammates Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, Hasan Ali has lived up to the expectations in the ongoing BBL season. While Shaheen has been ruled out of the tournament due to a knee injury, Babar has managed only 71 runs at a horrendous average of 17.75 for the Sydney Sixers.

However, Hasan Ali has emerged as an exception for the Pakistani contingent in the BBL. The right-arm pacer has been a vital cog in the Adelaide Strikers' setup, scalping six wickets across four innings at a healthy strike rate of 15.

The seasoned campaigner sustained his impressive run in the tournament, registering decent bowling figures of two for 29 against Brisbane Heat on Wednesday's BBL clash. He dismissed Jimmy Peirson and Tom Balkin, thereby finishing 2025 with 73 T20 wickets.

Thus, Hasan Ali recorded the most T20 wickets as a Pakistani bowler in a single year, surpassing Haris Rauf's tally of 66 scalps in 2025.

Most T20 wickets in a year by Pakistani bowlers

  • 73 - Hasan Ali in 2025
  • 66 - Haris Rauf in 2025
  • 65 - Faheem Ashraf in 2025
  • 64 - Zaman Khan in 2023
  • 61 - Shadab Khan in 2022

Hasan Ali eyes T20 World Cup spot with 2025 heroics

Hasan Ali has been prolific in T20 cricket this year. He bagged 13 wickets in just four matches in the National T20 cup before having a standout PSL season (17 wickets in 10 innings). The speedster further went on to showcase his class in the T20I series against Bangladesh as well as the T20 Blast, following it up with a string of praiseworthy performances in the BBL.

Considering his red-hot form, it won't be surprising if Hasan Ali makes his comeback for the T20 World Cup, with Shaheen Afridi struggling with a knee injury and Naseem Shah and Mohammad Wasim Jr yet to convince the selectors about their worth.
