The BCCI on Wednesday confirmed the Duleep Trophy 2024 squads for the first round. While Shubman Gill as captain of Team A was no surprise, there won't be Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, as confirmed by the board.

The upcoming Duleep Trophy, which kicks off India's domestic red-ball season, will commence on September 5, 2024, in Anantapur (Andhra Pradesh) and Bengaluru. 

The tournament, traditionally a zonal competition, has been restructured this year to feature four teams (Team A to D) competing in a round-robin format. The team with the most points at the end of the league stage will be crowned the winner.


The Four Squads For The First Round Of The Tournament Are As Below 

Team A: Shubman Gill (C), Mayank Agarwal, Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, KL Rahul, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Kuldeep Yadav, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Vidwath Kaverappa, Kumar Kushagra, Shaswat Rawat.

Team B: Abhimanyu Easwaran (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sarfaraz Khan, Rishabh Pant, Musheer Khan, Nitish Kumar Reddy*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Yash Dayal, Mukesh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, R Sai Kishore, Mohit Awasthi, N Jagadeesan (WK).

Team C: Ruturaj Gaikwad (C), Sai Sudharsan, Rajat Patidar, Abishek Porel (WK), Suryakumar Yadav, B Indrajith, Hrithik Shokeen, Manav Suthar, Umran Malik, Vyshak Vijaykumar, Anshul Khamboj, Himanshu Chauhan, Mayank Markande, Aryan Juyal (WK), Sandeep Warrier.

Team D: Shreyas Iyer (C), Atharva Taide, Yash Dubey, Devdutt Padikkal, Ishan Kishan (WK), Ricky Bhui, Saransh Jain, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Aditya Thakare, Harshit Rana, Tushar Deshpande, Akash Sengupta, KS Bharat (WK), Saurabh Kumar.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma Not Participating In Duleep Trophy 2024

Top Indian cricketers are set to participate, with Shubman Gill will captain Team A, Abhimanyu Easwaran will lead Team B, Ruturaj Gaikwad will be captain of Team C, and Shreyas Iyer will captain Team D. 

While Nitish Kumar Reddy is included in the squad, although his participation depends on his fitness. Notably, India pacer Mohammed Shami was anticipated to play but isn't part of the squad. Additionally, senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah will not participate in the tournament.
